A magnitude‑6 earthquake struck in the waters off Indonesia’s Timor Island, the country’s geophysics agency reported on Tuesday. The quake’s epicentre was recorded at a depth of 31 kilometres, and officials confirmed there is no tsunami risk associated with the tremor.
Indonesia sits on the seismically active Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where earthquakes are common, though early reports indicated no immediate damage or casualties.
