Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Jessore on Monday, marking his first visit to the district since the formation of the new government. His arrival sparked a festive atmosphere across the region, with residents lining the streets and gathering in public spaces to welcome the country’s leader.
He departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 9:30am and landed in Jessore at approximately 10:15am. Upon arrival, he was greeted by senior officials including Anindya Islam Amit, Member of Parliament for Jessore‑3 and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, as well as Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Local Government. Top government officials were also present to receive him.
According to the official itinerary, the Prime Minister began his visit by inaugurating the re‑excavation programme of the Ulashi Canal in Sharsha Upazila. He also attended a public gathering at the same venue, where he addressed local residents and highlighted the government’s development priorities for the region.
During his speech, he emphasized the importance of sustainable infrastructure, regional connectivity, and long‑term planning to support local communities. The event drew a large crowd, reflecting the district’s enthusiasm surrounding his visit.
