Reality star Helen Flanagan has revealed that her eldest daughter sometimes feels “embarrassed” seeing her mum appear on television even as her younger children burst into laughter whenever she pops up on screen.
The former Coronation Street actress, who shares daughters Matilda (10) and Delilah (7) and son Charlie (5) with ex‑fiancé and footballer Scott Sinclair, says her kids have very different reactions to her TV appearances. “My children love seeing me on TV. My five‑year‑old will say, ‘That’s mummy.’ I’ve watched bits of TV with them, and they find it hilarious, though my eldest does get embarrassed,” she told BANG Showbiz.
Flanagan, who has starred in Celebs Go Dating and more recently Celebrity Ex on the Beach, said she tries to involve her children in her work whenever possible especially when performing in pantomimes. “Everything I do is for them, so I want them to feel part of it,” she said, explaining that she often brings her eldest along when she’s working away from home.
Since leaving Coronation Street in 2018 after nearly two decades as Rosie Webster, the 35‑year‑old has continued to build a busy career in reality TV. Her personal life has also drawn attention: after ending her engagement to Sinclair in 2022, she dated former boxer David Haye and later ex‑footballer Robbie Talbot, with both relationships eventually ending.
Despite her on‑screen confidence, Flanagan says she remains protective of her children’s privacy. She has made it clear she would only introduce a future partner to them if she was certain he was “Mr. Right.”
As her career continues to evolve, Flanagan says her kids remain at the heart of everything she does even if one of them occasionally hides behind a cushion when she appears on screen.
