HBO has confirmed the principal cast for its upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation, set to premiere December 25, introducing a new generation of actors to J.K. Rowling’s iconic wizarding world.
The lineup includes:
Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter
Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger
Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley
John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore
Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape
Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid
The series will be a fresh adaptation of the original books, entirely separate from the blockbuster film franchise that ran from 2001 to 2011.
Ralph Fiennes, who famously portrayed Voldemort in the films first appearing in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is not involved in the new production. HBO has not yet revealed who will play Voldemort, leaving one of the most anticipated casting announcements still under wraps.
With most major roles now confirmed, excitement is building as fans prepare to revisit Hogwarts through a new lens and with a brand‑new cast.
