Advance train tickets for travel on 18 March ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr went on sale Sunday, marking the sixth day of Bangladesh Railway’s staggered online ticketing programme designed to ease holiday travel pressure.
To reduce congestion and ensure smoother journeys for homebound passengers, the railway is continuing its fully online sales system. Tickets for all western region intercity trains opened at 8:00am, while eastern region intercity tickets will be available from 2:00pm.
According to the pre-announced schedule,
Tickets for 13 March were sold on 3 March
14 March on 4 March
15 March on 5 March
16 March on 6 March
17 March on 7 March
18 March today
Tickets for 19 March will be released on 9 March
Railway officials added that ticket sales for 20, 21 and 22 March will depend on the moon sighting that determines the exact date of Eid.
Responding to passenger demand, authorities have also confirmed that 25% standing tickets for non-AC coaches will be available at originating stations shortly before departure a move aimed at accommodating additional travellers during the peak holiday rush.
