North Korea Declares Denuclearization “Irreversibly Finished” as It Condemns US–South Korea Nuclear Talks

North Korea has declared that denuclearization is “irreversibly finalized,” issuing one of its strongest rejections yet of any future negotiations on giving up its nuclear arsenal. The statement came as Pyongyang blasted recent US-South Korea nuclear deterrence talks, accusing both countries of escalating threats.

A spokesperson for North Korea’s foreign ministry, quoted by state media KCNA, said the DPRK would not be swayed by what it called “meaningless rhetoric” from Washington and Seoul. The spokesperson insisted that North Korea’s status as a nuclear weapons state is permanent and untouchable.

“The ‘denuclearization’ is an irreversibly finalized matter,” the statement said, underscoring Pyongyang’s refusal to revisit a policy it abandoned years ago.

The comments follow last week’s meeting of the Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG) in Seoul, where US and South Korean officials discussed strengthening nuclear deterrence and readiness in response to North Korea’s expanding weapons program.

Pyongyang’s declaration signals a further hardening of its stance at a time when diplomatic channels remain frozen and military tensions continue to rise on the Korean Peninsula.
