Newly elected Members of Parliament were officially sworn in during a ceremony held at the Jatiya Sangsad, marking the beginning of their parliamentary responsibilities under the Constitution of Bangladesh.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, in accordance with the constitutional provisions governing the induction of newly elected lawmakers.

The ceremony was attended by Tarique Rahman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and Salahuddin Ahmed, Minister for Home Affairs, alongside the Deputy Speaker, Chief Whip, other parliamentary whips, Members of Parliament, and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat.

According to Article 148 and the Third Schedule of the Constitution of Bangladesh, as well as Rule 5 of the Rules of Procedure of Jatiya Sangsad, the Speaker is responsible for administering the oath to newly elected Members of Parliament before they can formally assume their duties.

The swearing-in ceremony represents an important constitutional process, enabling elected representatives to begin participating in parliamentary proceedings, legislative activities, and national decision-making on behalf of their constituents.

Officials said the event underscored the continued functioning of Bangladesh’s parliamentary system and the commitment of elected representatives to uphold the Constitution and serve the people of the country.
