A legal dispute has emerged within the estate of late pop icon Michael Jackson, with his daughter Paris Jackson reportedly seeking access to hundreds of millions of dollars she believes should have been distributed through a family trust established under her father’s will.
According to court filings submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on October 29, Paris Jackson is seeking approximately US$600 million, arguing that a trust intended to benefit her and her brothers, Prince Jackson and Bigi Jackson, has remained unfunded despite the estate reportedly generating substantial revenue over many years.
The legal action directly targets John Branca, the longtime executor of Michael Jackson’s estate. In the filing, Paris reportedly alleges that Branca has maintained an “iron grip” over estate funds and has exercised significant control over the timing and distribution of money intended for the singer’s children.
Paris contends that Michael Jackson’s will stated that his children should receive their share of the trust after reaching the age of 21. However, she argues that, rather than receiving the full benefits outlined in the trust arrangement, the siblings have instead been provided with smaller distributions determined by estate management.
The dispute has drawn significant public attention due to the immense value of Michael Jackson’s estate, which remains one of the highest-earning celebrity estates in the world. Since the singer’s death in 2009, revenue from music rights, licensing agreements, entertainment projects, and business interests has generated hundreds of millions of dollars.
The case is expected to place renewed focus on the management of celebrity estates and the responsibilities of executors overseeing large family trusts.
Neither the estate nor representatives for John Branca have publicly responded in detail to the latest claims, and the matter is expected to be examined through further legal proceedings.
