Physician Zubaida Rahman emphasized the importance of creating supportive environments where children can grow, learn, and achieve their potential through access to education, healthcare, recreation, and opportunities for personal development.
She made the remarks while visiting Blue Sky, a school for children with special needs operated by the Bangladesh Air Force in Agargaon, Dhaka, where she attended a cultural programme and interacted with students.
Speaking at the event, Rahman said children should be provided with quality education, physical and mental health support, opportunities for play and sports, and access to natural environments that encourage healthy development. She noted that these factors are important in helping young people build confidence, develop skills, and pursue their aspirations.
Rahman described children as the future of the nation and encouraged them to aim high and make full use of the opportunities available to them. Referring to the symbolism of the “open sky,” she said it can represent limitless possibilities and ambitions for children and adolescents.
She also highlighted the importance of institutions and initiatives that support children’s growth, creativity, and talent development, including programmes that promote inclusive education and equal opportunities for all learners.
The visit focused on the wellbeing and development of children, particularly those with special needs, and underscored the value of educational environments that help young people participate fully in society and achieve their goals.
