Inter Milan produced a dramatic comeback from two goals down to defeat Udinese 5-3 on Monday, maintaining their perfect start to the Serie A season and keeping pace with AS Roma at the top of the table.

The victory leaves both Inter and Roma on 12 points from four matches, setting up a highly anticipated clash between the two unbeaten sides at the Stadio Olimpico this weekend. Meanwhile, Como moved into third place on 10 points after securing a 2-1 win over Parma.

Udinese made a stunning start at the San Siro, taking a two-goal lead within the opening 16 minutes. Defender James Abankwah opened the scoring after heading home unmarked from a set-piece before Jurgen Ekkelenkamp doubled the visitors’ advantage with a close-range finish seven minutes later.

Inter responded strongly to the early setback. Carlos Augusto pulled a goal back with a powerful long-range strike that found the bottom corner, before Nicolo Barella levelled the scores 10 minutes before halftime to complete the recovery.

The reigning champions completed the turnaround in the 59th minute when Marcus Thuram finished from inside the penalty area after a cutback from Andy Diouf. Inter then took full control of the contest, with Francesco Esposito adding a fourth goal before Ange-Yoan Bonny extended the lead to 5-2 with 11 minutes remaining.

Despite a late consolation for Udinese, Inter secured an impressive 5-3 victory and preserved their unbeaten record.

Elsewhere, Roma continued their strong start to the campaign with a 2-0 win over Torino. The breakthrough came five minutes before halftime when Donyell Malen capitalised on a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Lucas Perri, after the ball was intercepted by Paulo Dybala.

Roma sealed the result in stoppage time through Niccolo Pisilli, who finished from a difficult angle after Gianluca Mancini kept the ball in play near the byline.

Following the match, Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini praised the growing partnership between Malen and Dybala, highlighting their contribution to the team’s perfect start to the season.

With four victories from four matches, both Inter and Roma head into their top-of-the-table showdown in excellent form, with the upcoming encounter expected to provide an early indication of the Serie A title race.
