Former Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda Arrested in Uttara

The police have apprehended former Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda in the Uttara area of Dhaka. Local residents caught him on Sunday evening and subsequently handed him over to authorities, confirmed Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Hafizur Rahman.

Earlier in the day, the BNP filed lawsuits against the CECs of three previous general elections, accusing them of widespread vote-rigging. A five-member delegation, led by BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, submitted the lawsuit application to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. The case includes allegations against a total of 24 individuals, among them Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed, the CEC for the 2014 election.
