Braving relentless monsoon rain, the Prime Minister pressed ahead with a full day of engagements in Sylhet, marking his first visit to the region since taking office. The downpour did little to dampen the energy on the ground as residents lined the streets to welcome him.

The day began with a solemn visit to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R.), where the Prime Minister offered prayers. From there, he travelled to Chandnighat to inaugurate the Sylhet City Corporation’s major water‑logging mitigation project a long‑awaited initiative aimed at easing one of the city’s most persistent urban challenges.

A large gathering of dignitaries joined the event, including the Prime Minister’s spouse, senior cabinet ministers, advisers, members of parliament and top government officials. Project authorities briefed the Prime Minister on the scope of the development work and outlined the implementation strategy designed to deliver lasting relief for residents.

Despite the heavy rain, public turnout remained strikingly high. Locals described the crowds as a reflection of Sylhet’s hopes and expectations for accelerated development under the new administration. The Prime Minister’s Sylhet Visit has quickly become a symbolic moment one that blends tradition, governance and public enthusiasm.
