Bilal Chughtai, who previously worked on artificial general intelligence (AGI) safety and alignment research at Google DeepMind, said he recently left the company and believes advanced AI could pose serious risks if not developed and managed responsibly.
In comments posted on social media, Chughtai said he views AI as having the potential to cause catastrophic consequences and expressed concern that the window for addressing such risks may be narrowing. He worked as a research engineer at Google DeepMind and was involved in research related to AI safety and alignment before leaving the company earlier this year
