India is preparing to restore all categories of visas for Bangladeshi citizens within the next few weeks, according to a report published by The Indian Express. The move comes after Bangladesh resumed issuing every category of visa to Indian nationals earlier in February, prompting renewed discussions on reciprocal arrangements.
Both countries have begun a phased process toward reinstating full visa services, with the issue receiving significant attention in recent diplomatic meetings. During his visit to New Delhi last month, Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman strongly raised the matter, noting that Bangladesh was already offering complete visa access to Indian travellers. According to the report, Indian officials responded positively and indicated that the matter is under active consideration.
Analysts say the restoration of full visa services would be a major boost for cross‑border travel, medical visits, business exchanges and tourism sectors that rely heavily on smooth mobility between the two neighbours. Many believe the step would further strengthen bilateral ties and deepen people‑to‑people connections.
