Fresh Questions Over Anika Wells’ Taxpayer‑Funded Travel as New Comcar Costs Emerge

Communications Minister Anika Wells is again facing scrutiny over her use of taxpayer‑funded travel entitlements, after new reports revealed she spent nearly $2,000 on chauffeur‑driven Comcar trips for short journeys in Canberra.

According to The Daily Telegraph, one 2022 trip cost $337 for a distance of just three kilometres between Parkes and Kingston. Ms Wells has reportedly said delays contributed to the unusually high fare.

The revelations come only months after she was required to repay more than $10,000 following an audit that found multiple breaches of parliamentary travel rules earlier this year.

The renewed attention has prompted further debate about ministerial accountability and the oversight of taxpayer‑funded entitlements an issue that has repeatedly surfaced across federal politics.
