Emergency services are responding to a serious two‑vehicle crash in northern Tasmania that has left five people with significant injuries. The collision occurred on the Bass Highway near the Gannons Hill Road intersection at Elizabeth Town, prompting a large‑scale rescue operation.
A helicopter was deployed to the scene due to the severity of the crash. Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, the Tasmania Fire Service and SES are all involved in the response.
Authorities described it as a “very complex scene”, with investigations expected to continue well into the evening. The Bass Highway is currently blocked in both directions, and police are urging motorists to avoid the area and follow traffic diversions while emergency crews work.
