Trump Warns Oman He Will “Bomb Them” If They Obstruct US Push for Iran Deal

2 min read

US President Donald Trump has issued a startling threat against Oman, warning he would “bomb the **** out of them” if the Gulf nation “gets in the way” of Washington’s efforts to secure a deal with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The remark, made during a phone interview with Fox News, comes as both the US and Oman pursue separate negotiations with Tehran to restore access to the vital waterway, closed for nearly six months during the US‑Iran war.

The threat landed on the same day Iranian officials said they were close to finalising an agreement with Oman. But the future of US‑Iran talks remains uncertain, with a 60‑day Memorandum of Understanding between Washington and Tehran now expiring. Asked by BBC News in the Oval Office whether he wanted an extension, Trump replied bluntly: “No.”
Since February, when the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, Tehran has largely blocked the Strait of Hormuz a channel through which one‑fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas normally flows. Oman, which borders the southern side of the strait, has maintained its stance as a neutral mediator despite suffering several Iranian strikes.
Fox reporter Trey Yingst quoted Trump’s explosive warning: “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them.” It remains unclear what Trump considers “getting in the way,” or how Oman’s diplomatic efforts might conflict with Washington’s ambitions.
During the same interview, Trump claimed the US had established a direct backchannel with Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IRGC swiftly denied the assertion, telling Tasnim News that “no talks” were taking place and dismissing Trump’s comments as “fantasies caused by delusions and nightmares” stemming from “defeat and desperation in the war.”
As negotiations fracture and rhetoric escalates, the fate of the Strait of Hormuz and the global economy that depends on it hangs in the balance.
