The newly elected members of parliament for the reserved women’s seats in Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliament are set to take their oaths today. The Parliament Secretariat issued an official notification on Saturday confirming that the swearing‑in ceremony will take place at 9pm.

The event will be held in the designated Oath Room on Level 1 of the East Block of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Sher‑e‑Bangla Nagar. Relevant departments have already been instructed to complete all preparations, according to a notice signed by Shawkat Akbar, deputy secretary of the Legislative Wing‑1.

As per parliamentary tradition, the Speaker will administer the oath. On 30 April, the Election Commission (EC) published the gazette naming 49 MPs elected uncontested to the reserved women’s seats.

Seat distribution was based on party and alliance representation in parliament:

  • 36 MPs from the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its alliance
  • 12 MPs from Bangladesh Jamaat‑e‑Islami and its alliance
  • 1 MP from a coalition of six independent MPs
