Supreme Court Upholds Legality of Interim Government Led by Dr Muhammad Yunus

1 min read

The Supreme Court has declared the oath-taking and formation process of the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus as valid, following a reference from the court itself.

On Thursday morning, a full appellate bench of seven judges headed by Chief Justice Dr Syed Refat Ahmed upheld the earlier High Court ruling, confirming the legality of the interim administration.

The appellate division dismissed the leave-to-appeal petition filed against the High Court’s order, stating that the decision to reject the writ challenging the interim government’s formation was correct and required no further intervention.

During the hearing, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik R Haque represented the state. Advocate Mohsin Rashid appeared for the writ petition, while Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kajal, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir, Dr Sharif Bhuiyan, and Barrister S M Shahriar Kabir participated as intervenors.
