Ufa, Russia: Two Ukrainian drones struck one of Russia’s largest oil refining complexes in the Bashkortostan region early Sunday, sparking a fire and causing minor damage, local officials said.
The facility, operated by Bashneft a subsidiary of state‑owned Rosneft is a key hub in Russia’s energy export network. Regional Governor Radiy Khabirov confirmed the attack but said operations would continue. “The situation is under control. There is no threat to residents,” he stated.
The strike is part of Ukraine’s ongoing campaign to target Russian energy infrastructure, aiming to disrupt fuel supplies and reduce Moscow’s export revenues. In recent months, Kyiv has intensified long‑range drone operations deep inside Russian territory, hitting oil depots, refineries, and military installations.
Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed it intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours and launched retaliatory strikes on what it described as “long‑range drone infrastructure” in Ukraine.
