Kim Kardashian Sued Over Mistaken Social Media Post During Italy Wedding Celebrations

While Hollywood stars celebrated the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in Italy, Kim Kardashian faced a different kind of headline being sued over a social media mistake. According to US Weekly, Kardashian is now involved in a lawsuit after allegedly posting a photo of the wrong Ivan Cantu on her social media.

Court documents filed by Kim and her legal team argue that the man suing her, Ivan Cantu, 44, has no legal standing in the case. Kardashian signed the paperwork on June 26, just a day before the high-profile wedding event.

The lawsuit stems from a previous social media effort last year, when Kardashian used her platform in good faith to raise awareness about a Texas man also named Ivan Cantu. The man was convicted of murder in 2001 and sentenced to death, and Kardashian posted a series of about 16 stories on her Instagram account over ten days to advocate for him.

However, her legal team states that one of these stories, posted two days before the man’s scheduled execution, mistakenly included an image of the plaintiff in this current lawsuita New York-based project manager also named Ivan Cantu. The legal filings claim that Kardashian’s team did not have any reason to believe this was the same person, and that the post was an honest mistake.
