The Salimullah Medical College Alumni Australia brought together former students and their families for its annual picnic and reunion in Sydney, providing an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, relive cherished memories, and strengthen bonds within the alumni community.
Held on Sunday, 8 November, at the Bargo Community Centre, the event attracted around 50 former students of Salimullah Medical College along with their family members. In total, approximately 110 guests attended the gathering, transforming the venue into a vibrant and memorable reunion.
The day-long programme began with breakfast and featured a rich selection of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, lively conversations, reminiscences, recreational activities, sports, and musical performances. For many alumni, the reunion offered a rare opportunity to reconnect with classmates after many years and revisit the golden memories of their medical college days.
The event was filled with laughter, storytelling, and warm exchanges as former classmates reflected on their shared experiences and achievements. The enthusiastic participation of family members added an extra dimension to the gathering, creating an atmosphere of friendship, unity, and community spirit.
Children, young adults, and senior members all took part in the festivities, making the occasion a true family celebration. The programme concluded in the afternoon with refreshments and a final opportunity for participants to socialise before departing.
Organisers noted that professional commitments and family responsibilities often make it difficult for alumni living abroad to maintain regular contact with one another. Annual reunions such as this help strengthen friendships, foster goodwill, and reinforce a sense of belonging within the Salimullah Medical College alumni network.
Participants described the gathering as much more than a picnic. It served as an emotional reunion that allowed alumni to reconnect with their beloved institution, lifelong friends, and treasured memories from their student years.
Many attendees expressed hope that the strong bond among Salimullah Medical College graduates in Australia will continue to flourish and grow in the years ahead, further strengthening the alumni community across generations.
