Actors Kate Hudson and Brenda Song say their children may inevitably find their way into the entertainment industry whether they plan to or not according to a new interview with E! News. Speaking alongside Running Point co‑creator Mindy Kaling, both stars admitted they already see early signs of performance instincts in their young kids.
Hudson, who comes from one of Hollywood’s most famous acting families, said she fully expects her children to consider acting. “I don’t see a way out of it,” she joked, noting that creativity seems to run in their DNA. “Our family… we come out either doing a scene or dancing. Everybody is performance‑oriented.”
Song agreed, saying her children just three and five years old are already showing hints of stage presence. “There’s no way. My 3‑year‑old… I’m like, ‘Oh no, I can see it!’”
Hudson added that passion is essential for surviving in such an unpredictable industry. “In our family, if you love it, stay. If you don’t, get out,” she said, calling show business “unstable” but rewarding for those who truly care about it.
Kaling shared that her own children are fascinated by her work, though they may not fully understand what being on set actually involves. “They think it’s glamorous, with endless candy but they’d probably sit there and get bored,” she laughed.
Season two of Running Point begins streaming April 23.
