Bangladesh has reported five more dengue deaths in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, pushing this year’s fatality count to 82, as infections continue to climb across the country.
In the latest reporting period, 839 new patients were hospitalised with the mosquito‑borne viral fever, bringing the 2026 caseload to 28,929. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the newest fatalities included three women, with three deaths recorded under the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and one each in Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions.
The spread remains nationwide. Of the latest hospital admissions, 117 came from Barishal, 100 from Chattogram, 135 from Dhaka division, 61 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 91 under DSCC, 159 from Khulna, 79 from Mymensingh, 71 from Rajshahi, 23 from Rangpur, and three from Sylhet. DGHS data shows men account for 61.9% of infections this year, while women represent 38.1%
Right now, 1,951 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals nationwide.
Bangladesh has faced severe dengue outbreaks in recent years. Official data shows 102,861 cases and 413 deaths in 2025, and 101,214 infections with 575 deaths in 2024 highlighting the persistent threat posed by Aedes mosquitoes and the growing strain on the country’s health system.
