126 Bangladeshi Workers in Malaysia Finally Receive Unpaid Wages After Embassy Intervention

A total of 126 Bangladeshi migrant workers in Malaysia have finally received their long‑overdue wages after direct intervention from the Bangladesh High Commission, bringing relief to labourers who had been struggling for months.

The company released the first instalment of three months’ unpaid salaries on 21 August, following repeated complaints and diplomatic pressure. Workers said the payment came at a critical time, as many had been facing severe financial hardship.

Sajjad Hossain, a worker from Tangail, said they were barely surviving. “For three months we had no salary. Our families back home were suffering, and we were struggling here too. Without the embassy’s help, there was no chance of getting our wages. We thank everyone at the embassy for standing by us during this difficult time.”

The High Commission urged all Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia to avoid protests or strikes, even in situations involving unpaid wages. Officials warned that violating Malaysian labour laws during demonstrations can make it harder for affected workers to secure justice and compensation.

The embassy assured that it will continue assisting Bangladeshi workers facing exploitation, urging them to report problems promptly and follow legal procedures to protect their rights.
