Adelaide Crows legend Tony Modra has shared a heartfelt update on his recovery, posting new photos one month after suffering serious injuries in a truck crash on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. The 57‑year‑old AFL icon said he is finally “getting out and about,” crediting medical staff for saving his life and rebuilding his injuries “with a few titanium plates.”
Modra posted two images to social media: one showing him in a hospital bed during his fourth day in intensive care, embraced by loved ones, and another taken a month later with his family. The contrast highlights the extent of his recovery since the June crash at Back Valley, near Victor Harbor, where his truck collided with a tree. He later underwent facial surgery as part of his treatment.
“I’m getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month,” Modra wrote, thanking supporters for their messages as he continues his rehabilitation.
The former two‑time All‑Australian remains one of the most celebrated figures in Adelaide Crows history, and his update has prompted an outpouring of support from fans across the country.
