Bangladesh Cuts Hajj Airfare by Tk12,000 as 2026 Flight Preparations Begin

Bangladesh has reduced airfare for all Hajj flights by Tk12,000 per ticket, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat announced in a press release on Sunday. The government says the reduction will apply to every Hajj flight this year, during which 78,500 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia all without the use of chartered aircraft.

Earlier, following a meeting of the National Hajj Management Committee at the Secretariat, Religious Affairs Minister Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad confirmed that Hajj flights for 2026 will begin on 18 April. He added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to inaugurate the operations and may visit the Hajj Camp in the coming days.

Despite instability in the Middle East, Kaikobad expressed confidence that the flight schedule would remain largely unaffected. “All relevant agencies have been instructed to work in coordination to ensure smooth travel of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia,” he said.

The airfare cut is expected to ease financial pressure on pilgrims at a time of rising global travel costs.
