Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders are gearing up to mark the 48th founding anniversary on 1 September, as senior figures warn of attempts to destabilise the country through “artificial crises.” The remarks came during a preparatory meeting held on Saturday at the party’s Nasiman Bhaban office.
State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said “defeated and fugitive forces” were actively trying to unsettle the nation. He stressed that any conspiracy aimed at undermining stability or the democratic framework would be met with political resistance.
He noted that the BNP had taken charge of the country while shouldering a Tk30 lakh crore debt burden, and that rebuilding from “national ruins” required time and collective support. Restoring the economy and meeting public expectations, he said, would demand patience and unity
City BNP Convener Ershad Ullah MP, who presided over the meeting, announced that a citywide rally would be held at 3pm on 1 September, starting from the Old Railway Station premises. He urged leaders, activists and supporters from every ward to join with banners and festoons to make the event a “grand success.” Member secretary Nazimur Rahman moderated the session.
As preparations intensify, party leaders say the anniversary will serve both as a celebration of BNP’s legacy and a show of strength amid growing political challenges.
