Dhaka Police Bans All Gatherings Around Bangladesh Secretariat From Wednesday

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a sweeping ban on all types of meetings, rallies and public gatherings in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and the Chief Adviser’s official residence, effective from Wednesday and continuing until further notice.

The directive was announced on Tuesday through a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali.

Security Measures Trigger the Ban

According to the notice, the restrictions have been enforced under Section 29 of the DMP Ordinance to maintain public order and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser.

The prohibited zone includes:

  • Bangladesh Secretariat and surrounding areas
  • The Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna
  • The entire area between:
    • Hotel InterContinental Crossing
    • Kakrail Mosque Crossing
    • Officers’ Club Crossing
    • Mintu Road Crossing

Awaiting Further Instructions

The ban will remain in place until authorities issue new directives.
