Biman Bangladesh Airlines has officially reopened its Dhaka-Karachi Dhaka route after a 14‑year suspension, with the inaugural flight taking off on Thursday night. Flight BG341 departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 8pm, marking a significant milestone for the national carrier.

A formal inauguration ceremony was held at HSIA to celebrate the relaunch. Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser and Chairman of Biman’s Board of Directors, attended as chief guest. Also present were Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, and Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

The event was chaired by Dr Md Shafiqur Rahman, Biman’s managing director and CEO.

The flight touched down in Karachi at 11pm local time, carrying 150 passengers. Its return leg, BG342, departed Karachi at 12:01am Friday and is scheduled to land in Dhaka at 4:20am.

Officials say the restored route will significantly improve travel convenience between Bangladesh and Pakistan, while creating new opportunities for business, tourism, and family connections across the region.
