The first trailer for ‘Verity’, starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, has dropped and it wastes no time plunging viewers into a world of secrets, manipulation and psychological unease. Based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, the upcoming film promises a dark, twisting narrative that blurs the line between truth and obsession.
The newly released trailer expands on the teaser asset shared earlier, offering a deeper look at the film’s unsettling plot. Hathaway plays Verity Crawford, a celebrated author whose life and legacy take a sinister turn when struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson) moves into the remote Crawford estate to ghost‑write Verity’s unfinished work.
What begins as a professional opportunity quickly spirals into dread when Lowen discovers chilling autobiographical notes that hint at disturbing confessions involving Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett).
As Lowen becomes entangled in the Crawfords’ secrets, she finds herself unable to distinguish fiction from reality, manipulation from attraction, and ambition from obsession setting the stage for a tense psychological showdown.
Directed by Michael Showalter, the film is set to bring a brooding, shadow‑laden tone to October’s cinematic lineup. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing International, Verity is scheduled to release in India on October 2.
