6.2‑Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Western Japan; No Tsunami Warning Issued

A 6.2‑magnitude earthquake struck the western coast of Japan on Tuesday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The tremor was recorded at 10:18 am local time (0118 GMT) in Shimane Prefecture, a region in the country’s Chugoku area. No tsunami warning was issued following the quake.

Reports indicate the epicenter was located in the eastern part of Shimane, and the shaking was felt across surrounding areas. Authorities are monitoring for aftershocks, but no major damage or injuries have been reported so far.
