Italy Allocates 10,500 Jobs for Pakistani Workers Under New Bilateral Agreement

The Italian government has allocated 10,500 jobs for Pakistani workers, according to a statement issued on Saturday by Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. The ministry announced that a new agreement has been signed between Italy and Pakistan, under which Italy will legally accept 3,500 Pakistani workers each year for the next three years.

Minister Salik Hussain welcomed Italy’s decision, calling the agreement a significant milestone for Pakistan. He said the initiative would play an important role in strengthening the presence of Pakistani workers in Europe’s labour market.

He added that a Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Committee will begin its work in February 2026 to oversee the implementation of the agreement. According to the statement, most of the allocated jobs fall within the shipbreaking, healthcare, and agriculture sectors. Additionally, opportunities will be available for skilled and semi‑skilled workers in welding, technical services, cooking, restaurant work, and domestic labour.

This marks the first time any European country has formally reserved job quotas specifically for Pakistani workers. The ministry noted that Italy aims to complete the full quota within the next three years.
