Jamaat and Islami Andolan Leaders Attend Rally in Khulna, Call for Unity

The eight-party alliance held a divisional rally in Khulna on Monday, marked by the presence of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Pir Saheb Chormonai Mufti Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim. Their attendance was seen as a symbolic show of unity, as both local and central leaders addressed the gathering.

Speakers urged the public to decide whether to accept or reject those who they claimed were attempting to establish “fascism” in the country. They asserted that if the alliance works together on the ground, the future of Bangladesh could be one of peace and freedom from corruption. They emphasized the need for continued struggle and participation in the upcoming elections to achieve justice.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim highlighted the importance of public opinion as outlined in the July National Charter, stressing that a referendum before the national elections is now essential. He argued that without a referendum, elections would fail to reflect the people’s true mandate.

Halim made these remarks at a press conference held Monday afternoon at the Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah ground, ahead of the alliance’s divisional rally scheduled for December 3, which will focus on five demands including the call for a referendum.
