Ramadan in the United Arab Emirates will begin on Thursday, February 19, 2026, according to astronomical calculations. In South Asian countries such as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, fasting is expected to start a day later on Friday, February 20.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, said the new crescent moon will be born on February 17 at 4:01 p.m. local time. However, it will remain visible for only one minute after sunset, meaning the moon will be sighted on the evening of February 19.
At the start of Ramadan, fasting hours in the UAE will last about 12 hours and 46 minutes, gradually increasing to 13 hours and 25 minutes by the end of the month. Temperatures are expected to range between 16 and 28 degrees Celsius early in the month, rising to 19 to 32 degrees Celsius toward the end.
Ramadan, the third pillar of Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, nightly prayers and acts of devotion. The month concludes with Eid al-Fitr, celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, marking the end of fasting and a return to daily routines.
