Online School Shooting Threats on TikTok Target Mt Lawley Senior High

1 min read

Online threats referencing potential school shootings and directed at students of Mt Lawley Senior High School in Perth are under active police investigation. The menacing posts, shared overnight on TikTok and since deleted, combined footage of heavily armed shooters with images of students in school uniform.

Police have reassured the community that there is no immediate risk to students, teachers or nearby residents. “There are no safety concerns or imminent risk,” a WA Police spokesperson said, adding that detectives are working closely with the school to identify the origin of the threats and ensure student safety.

The Department of Education confirmed it is aware of the incident and is deferring all matters to law enforcement. Meanwhile, Principal Lesley Street emailed parents urging them to discuss social media use and misinformation with their children, without explicitly mentioning the nature of the threats. She emphasized the importance of understanding both “positive and negative impacts of social media” and discouraging unhelpful rumours.

On Friday morning, multiple police cars and uniformed officers were stationed at the Mt Lawley campus as a precautionary measure, maintaining a visible presence to support staff and students throughout the day.
