West Indies Crush Pakistan in Historic Series Win After 34 Years

2 min read

In a dramatic finale at Trinidad’s Brian Lara Stadium, Pakistan suffered a stunning batting collapse, getting bowled out for just 92 runs in the third and deciding ODI against West Indies. The defeat handed the Caribbean side a 2-1 series victory marking their first bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan in 34 years.

Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, with five players dismissed for ducks and only three managing to reach double digits. The dismal performance stood in stark contrast to West Indies’ commanding total of 294 for 6, built around captain Shai Hope’s 18th ODI century and a crucial 110-run partnership with Roston Chase for the seventh wicket. Notably, no other West Indies batter crossed the fifty mark.

Pakistan had started the series strong with a win in the opening match, but faltered in the rain-affected second ODI, scoring 171 in 37 overs and losing by five wickets. Hoping to capitalize on early conditions, they opted to bowl first in the final match. However, without pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi, their bowling attack lacked bite, allowing West Indies to dominate.

The result not only sealed a memorable series win for the hosts but also exposed Pakistan’s vulnerability under pressure, especially in the absence of key players.
