Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, is scheduled to visit Malaysia next week. The government expects that leveraging the close personal relationship between Yunus and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will lead to significant outcomes during this visit.
This information was shared during a discussion with journalists on Monday, August 4, at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, commemorating the ‘July Revolution Day 2025’. When asked whether any agreements regarding the labor market would be signed during the trip, Foreign Advisory Taufiq Hossain responded, “It is too early to say if any formal agreement will be signed. However, we are optimistic about resolving many issues. The visit is at a high level, and there is good chemistry between the two leaders, which we plan to utilize.”
Yunus’s visit, scheduled from August 11 to 13, aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore avenues for economic and diplomatic cooperation. Sources indicate that discussions will also focus on expanding trade ties, investment opportunities, and cooperation in education and healthcare sectors. The government is particularly hopeful about enhancing labor migration agreements, which could benefit both countries’ economies.
This visit marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to deepen diplomatic ties and foster sustainable development collaborations between Bangladesh and Malaysia.
