Tragic Crash Near Eden Claims Young Life, Leaves Three Hospitalized

A devastating crash near Eden on the New South Wales far south coast has claimed the life of a six-year-old boy and left three others in hospital. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a dual-cab ute collided with a truck on Towamba Road at Nullica, just after 4 PM.

The young boy, who was a passenger in the ute, tragically died at the scene. Two girls, aged two and eight, who were also in the ute, were rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. Authorities have described one of the girls’ conditions as serious but stable.

The 31-year-old man driving the ute was airlifted to Canberra Hospital for treatment and remains there. The crash site presented “critical and confronting scenes,” according to Fire and Rescue crews, and Towamba Road was closed overnight to facilitate the emergency response. The road has since reopened.

In a heartfelt statement posted on social media, Fire and Rescue NSW Eden extended their “deepest condolences” to the families affected by the tragedy. NSW Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash, with the case set to go before the coroner.

Crash Investigation Unit manager Jason Hogan described the incident as a “terrible tragedy” that has deeply impacted the local community. He noted that while regional NSW does experience its share of fatal crashes, each incident is a profound loss for the community.
