UDOY Inc. Hosts ‘Stories of Hope’ to Inspire Cancer Awareness and Support

The mission of UDOY Inc. is to raise cancer awareness, support the community, and fundraise for Cancer Council NSW through various community-involved initiatives. UDOY aims to support innovative research and prevention efforts to bring hope to those affected by cancer, guided by values of diversity, unity, well-being, humanity, integrity, and innovation, with a vision to free the community at large from the burden of cancer!

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, UDOY Inc. hosted a significant gathering at the Ermington Community Centre, bringing together a diverse group of individuals dedicated to the fight against cancer during the event titled “Stories of Hope.”

The morning commenced at 9:45 AM with a networking tea, providing an opportunity for esteemed dignitaries, medical professionals, cancer survivors, and community members to connect and share their experiences.

The President of UDOY Inc. welcomed attendees with a powerful message: the event aimed to honour the resilience of cancer survivors, raise awareness about prevention and treatment, and cultivate empathy for those impacted by the disease.

The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Parramatta, who represented the Honourable Premier of New South Wales, underscoring the event’s significance.

 

Throughout the day, renowned oncologists shared groundbreaking insights into the latest advancements in cancer treatment, while brave cancer survivors captivated the audience with their compelling personal narratives of struggle and triumph. These stories served as a poignant reminder of the indomitable human spirit and the vital role that community support plays in the ongoing battle against cancer.

Adding to the dialogue, the Cancer Council Community Coordinator highlighted essential cancer prevention strategies, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness to combat this pervasive issue effectively.

A special moment of recognition was dedicated to General Practitioners (GPs), who were acknowledged for their crucial role as the first line of defence in detecting early signs of cancer. Their timely diagnoses and referrals significantly enhance survival rates.

UDOY Inc. also expressed deep gratitude to the specialists, surgeons, clinical psychologists, health professionals, and researchers whose dedicated efforts profoundly impact the lives of those affected by cancer.

All proceeds from “Stories of Hope” were donated to Cancer Council Australia, bolstering vital initiatives in cancer research, prevention, and patient care. UDOY Inc. extends its sincere thanks to the community for their unwavering support, making this event a remarkable success.
