Vinicius Shines Again as Brazil Sweep Aside Scotland to Stay Perfect at the World Cup

Brazil’s unstoppable forward Vinicius Júnior continued his blistering World Cup form, scoring twice against Scotland to take his tournament tally to four goals placing him level with Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland, and just one behind Lionel Messi.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke had warned that Brazil would attack early, and he was right. It took only seven minutes for the Seleção to break through. A defensive error from Scott McKenna allowed Rayan to steal possession and slip the ball to an unmarked Vinicius. As goalkeeper Angus Gunn rushed out, the Real Madrid star calmly touched the ball past him and rolled it into an empty net, sending the yellow‑clad fans into a frenzy.

Brazil dominated the first half with aggressive pressing and quick recoveries, while Scotland failed to register a single shot on target their only chances coming from set‑pieces they couldn’t convert.

Just before halftime, Brazil delivered a crushing second blow. Winning the ball high up the pitch once again, Bruno Guimarães floated a perfect cross to the far post, where Vinicius headed home his second of the night.

After the break, Brazil pushed for more. Their third goal came from another incisive move through midfield, with Guimarães dancing into the box before setting up Matheus Cunha, who scored his third goal of the tournament.

But the loudest roar of the evening came when Neymar entered the pitch his first appearance for Brazil since October 2023 as Carlo Ancelotti gave the 34‑year‑old superstar a long‑awaited return to the national team.

Brazil remain one of the tournament’s most dangerous sides, with Vinicius in electric form and the squad hitting its stride at exactly the right moment.
