Seattle and Washington state officials have issued strong condemnations after a shooting left the community reeling, calling the incident an act of “senseless” and “horrific” violence.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson said his thoughts were with the victims and first responders, noting on social media that his “prayers are with the families of the victims, and the responders as they work to keep people safe.”
Seattle Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal echoed the sentiment, saying “our hearts go out to all those impacted by this senseless violence.” She added that her office is in close contact with Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Governor Ferguson, coordinating across multiple levels of government as updates continue to emerge.
Mayor Katie Wilson described the shooting as “an act of horrific violence,” emphasising the emotional toll on families and the wider community. “Impacted families are living through the worst moment of their lives,” she said, adding that residents are struggling to understand how a gathering centred on “culture, connection, and joy ended in gunfire.”
Wilson said the city’s focus remains on those who were killed, those recovering, and the families supporting them. “Seattle grieves with you, and we will stand with you in the difficult days ahead,” she said.
The investigation continues as officials work to support affected families and restore a sense of safety across the community.
