Mortal Kombat II has officially landed on OTT after completing its theatrical run, bringing fans back into the brutal, supernatural battleground between Earthrealm and Outworld. The action‑fantasy sequel, directed by Simon McQuoid, reunites the core fighters from the 2021 reboot and introduces Karl Urban as the iconic Johnny Cage a casting move that has already electrified the fanbase.

The film premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on April 27, 2026, before Warner Bros. Pictures rolled it out in cinemas on May 8. Now streaming on a major platform, the sequel picks up where the previous chapter left off, following Cole Young (Lewis Tan) and Earthrealm’s champions as they prepare for a no‑rules showdown against Shao Kahn, who is determined to annihilate Earthrealm and seize control.

The streaming platform describes the film as the next evolution of the long‑running video‑game franchise, placing Johnny Cage alongside returning heroes as they unite to stop Outworld’s invasion. The stakes are higher, the fights are bloodier and the mythology digs deeper into the lore that has defined Mortal Kombat for decades.

At the heart of the franchise is the legendary Mortal Kombat tournament a brutal contest that decides the fate of Earth. Outworld’s rulers have long sought to merge their realm with Earthrealm, and only Earth’s chosen fighters stand between survival and destruction. Mortal Kombat II pushes that conflict to its breaking point, setting the stage for an all‑out war.
