At least 11 Palestinians, among them a three‑year‑old and a 14‑year‑old, were killed on Tuesday in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip the latest incidents violating the ceasefire that has formally been in place since October 10 last year.
Gaza’s Civil Defence and Reuters reported that four people, including the three‑year‑old, died when an Israeli strike hit a police vehicle in central Gaza City. The Ministry of Interior said a police officer was among the dead, and at least nine bystanders were wounded, some critically.
Another person was killed earlier in the day by Israeli fire in Beit Lahiya, according to Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal.
Later in the evening, an additional strike near an intersection in the Shati refugee camp killed several more people. Medics at Al‑Shifa Hospital confirmed receiving five bodies from what they described as an Israeli drone attack involving two missiles. Reuters reported the strike hit near a café and wounded several others.
Although a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has technically been in effect since last October slowing but not halting the two‑year‑long war Israeli forces have continued to carry out near‑daily strikes. Since the truce began, almost 760 Palestinians have been killed in these attacks, according to local authorities.
The ongoing violence comes amid a broader conflict that has devastated the Gaza Strip, displaced millions, and drawn international scrutiny. Despite the ceasefire framework, the situation on the ground remains volatile, with civilians continuing to bear the brunt of the fighting.
