Aussie Pride Erupts as Watch Party Celebrates Woods’ Golden Run

Family friend Tracy Thew says the moment Cooper Woods clinched gold was nothing short of heart‑stopping, as a packed local pub held its breath waiting for the final score to drop. She had organised a watch party, and the atmosphere, she said, was electric.

“The room was deathly quiet and yet you could feel the buzz running through everyone,” she recalled. “We had a full house and everyone just went absolutely crazy.”

Woods reunited with his family at the bottom of the slope after his gold‑winning run, but the celebrations stretched far beyond the snowfields. Back home, Australians were just as proud none more so than those who watched every second from the pub.

“You could see the fire in his eyes and the determination,” Ms Thew said. “He’s a power pack, and the conviction and strength he has in his mental game helped him push through.”

Students at Pambula Public School, where Woods graduated in 2012, were also thrilled by his victory, cheering on their hometown hero as he delivered one of the standout performances of his career.
