Ukraine Again Tops German Defense Export List

1 min read

Ukraine remained the largest recipient of German defense exports last year, according to an official report released on Friday. Germany supplied Kyiv with around €2 billion worth of military equipment, reaffirming its role as Ukraine’s most significant European supporter in the war against Russia.

Norway and Sweden follow as major buyers
After Ukraine, Germany’s Scandinavian NATO partners Norway and Sweden were the next biggest purchasers of German arms both considered vulnerable due to their geographic proximity to Russia.

Norway, a founding NATO member, bought €1.3 billion worth of German weapons in 2025.

Sweden, which joined NATO in March 2024 after Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine, purchased around €1 billion in German arms.

Finland not among top buyers
Finland, which joined NATO in 2023 for similar security concerns, did not appear among the top ten buyers of German defence exports last year.
