Israeli Airstrikes Kill Nine in Gaza, Including Three Children, as Ceasefire Tensions Escalate

2 min read

Nine people among them three children have been killed in fresh Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, with at least 31 others injured, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense Authority. The Israeli military claims the strikes were carried out in response to gunfire allegedly directed at its troops, even as the second phase of a US‑brokered ceasefire is underway.

Violence has continued despite the truce framework, with both Israel and Hamas accusing each other of violating the agreement. The latest bloodshed comes only days after the reopening of the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt the enclave’s only exit point that does not pass through Israel.

Civil Defense officials in Hamas‑run Gaza reported that three bodies were taken to Nasser Hospital after strikes on tents and homes in southern Khan Younis. Six more bodies were transported to Al‑Shifa Hospital following similar attacks in Gaza City. Israeli forces say their troops were fired upon near the “Yellow Line,” leaving one officer critically wounded, and described the incident as a breach of the ceasefire.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 523 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. Israel, meanwhile, says four of its soldiers have died during the same period.
