MBBS-BDS Admission Test 2025 in Bangladesh to Be Held on Same Day: DGME Finalizes December 12 Exam Date

2 min read

For the first time, admission tests for both MBBS and dental programmes in Bangladesh will be held on the same day 12 December 2025 using a single, uniform question paper.

The decision was finalized at a meeting on Sunday, according to Professor Rubina Yasmin, Additional Director General (Medical Education) at the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME). It follows an earlier resolution on 6 October by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to fix the MBBS admission test date for 12 December. Authorities have now confirmed that the dental admission test will also take place on the same day, breaking with the long-standing practice of holding the two exams separately.

Traditionally, MBBS and BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) entry tests were conducted weeks apart, but officials said the new approach aims to streamline the process and reduce logistical challenges. The move also eliminates the possibility of question paper leaks between the two exams, since both will now share the same paper.

According to the 2024–25 academic session circular, Bangladesh currently has:

5,380 seats across 38 public medical colleges

6,293 seats in 67 private medical institutions

545 seats in government and private dental colleges, including dental units within medical colleges

The combined exam will therefore determine admission for more than 12,000 medical seats and over 500 dental seats nationwide.

Education officials noted that the uniform exam will maintain the same marks distribution and evaluation standards, ensuring fairness for all candidates. However, they also acknowledged that the change may require students to prepare more broadly, as the single paper will cover both medical and dental entry requirements.
