On his very first day in office, Sylhet’s newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam delivered a message of hope and commitment to the people of the district. He expressed confidence that with public trust and cooperation, Sylhet can be transformed into a model district beautiful, orderly, and progressive.
Pledging to serve with utmost dedication and sincerity, Alam emphasized his intention to work closely with citizens, just as he has done in previous roles. Upon arriving at the DC office Thursday morning, he was warmly welcomed by the Divisional Commissioner and senior officials. Even before the formal handover, he had already begun engaging actively in his new responsibilities.
Outlining his priorities, the DC announced plans to focus on law and order, environmental sustainability, tourism development, education, and healthcare. He urged all residents to follow rules and uphold the law, stressing that civic discipline is key to making government services more effective and people centered.
Speaking to journalists after the official handover ceremony on August 21, Alam reaffirmed his commitment to transparent governance and inclusive development, signaling a proactive start to his tenure.
