Despite its bittersweet ending, Game of Thrones left an indelible mark on television history, transforming the landscape of streaming and storytelling from 2011 to 2019. Beyond its massive fandoms, spin-offs, conventions, and even a new language, those involved in the series both main cast and crew have much to thank for their booming careers and acting impact.
Sophie Turner, who played the iconic Sansa Stark, recently shared her reflections on her time in the series during a podcast appearance. On July 9, on the Dish podcast hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, she looked back fondly, saying, “It was great. We were like a family, and I lived with that character for 10 years… by the end, it felt like we merged into one person. It completely shaped my life how I handle myself on set, my career decisions, everything I learned from Game of Thrones… and a bit from my parents.”
Nick Grimshaw pointed out how comforting it must have been to feel so supported among the cast and crew, especially considering the intense, often dark scenes they had to perform. Sophie laughed and cheekily added, “Honestly, it was really great. I actually got my sex education from that show. More than enough.”
As she gears up for her upcoming role in the psychological survival thriller Trust, Sophie is set to portray a Hollywood star who retreats to a remote cabin after a controversy, only to find herself fighting for survival. The film is scheduled for release later this year in August.
Meanwhile, all eight seasons of Game of Thrones are available on various OTT streaming platforms, allowing fans old and new to revisit the epic saga anytime.
